Creating New Forts
As the frontier is settled new forts will be created, these will primarily be a safe place for settlers to hide should the natives attack. These forts will be neutral when created. When its decided a location is settled enough to have a fort built a new progress bar will be displayed showing materials still needed, and progress towards building. Posting in threads to help with the build will increase the speed of the progress bar moving to completion

Control of Existing Forts By default all forts are held by a neutral party. The exception is the fort nearest Ordo Templi. This fort is held by Templar forces. Neutral forts can be visited by all ship holders, including ships sailed or affiliated to the Assassin or Templar cause, and can be used to restock ship supplies. Forts held by Assassin or Templar forces will only serve their own side and neutral ships.

Fort Weaponary Naval forts are armed with cannons and mortars. They normally have ships belonging to their side nearby as well of at least schooner class. These ships will assist in defending the fort upon attack. Land based Forts are armed with canons and armed soldiers on the walls with muskets. Land forts are built of a mix of wood and stone, with wood being primary resource used other then in city forts.

Fort Battles
Naval
Tag a member of staff in the tagboard before starting your run. The staff member will decide when you've destroyed all towers (and will be controlling enemy ships in the area). Please remember you will be under heavy bombardment during your attempt to take the fort. Once you've destroyed the towers you will need to dock your ship at the forts docks and storm the fort with your crew to kill all defenders.
Land based
These are harder without having at least one item of artillery (cannons etc) to break the doors down. You will need to find a way in and open the main gates to allow your troops in to attack the defenders.
With both types of forts you gain command of the fort proper once you have cut down or lowered the flag, and gained access to the war room killing the commander. The fort then becomes controlled by your faction.
