“Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery. I quit such odious subjects as soon as I can, impatient to restore everybody not greatly in fault themselves to tolerable comfort, and to have done with all the rest.” - Jane Austen INDEX, PLOT, RULES, CANON CHARACTERS, WANT ADSTHE YEAR IS 1816 AND THE SEASON HAS BEGUN.London is bustling with life, overflowing with the commotion of society. The year's end brought with it the death of the Napoleonic Wars after twelve and a half years, and so the season brings with it life anew- the return of those who went to fight, a migration into the city for all that this new season has to offer, and the promise of adventures yet to come.
London is a city not like any other - in fact, it isn‘t like any other at all. Oh, yes, the girls at the teahouse still gossip, the young men attempt to impress the eligible young women, and the mothers spend afternoons chasing their children down the streets, but there is more to this city than meets the eye. Whispers fly behind closed curtains while music fills the Assembly Rooms. Secrets and scandal beg to be revealed. Even those who appear innocent have their tribulations.
Here, you may make your life. Will you have something to hide? Will you join society in London for the season? Or retreat to the walls of a Country Estate? Perhaps the tranquility of Bath is more your style. Will you steal a dance with Jane Austen's heroines, fraternize with her literary heroes, or take a turn across the floor with a stranger? The choice, good sirs, is yours to make. But be warned: here, nothing is truly what it seems and society is always watching.
Where will your pen dwell?
