Standing at 5ft 6" Aran is a slender male, who wears his years well. His black hair is often pulled back into a low ponytail, secured with a black velvet ribbon. His skin is a slightly tanned variant of white, making the white scars - one across the bridge of his nose the second on his cheek - more noticable. His eyes are almost amber in colour, his nose is very roman-esque. Attire
His sense of clothing could be deemed immaculate - a black great coat with red trim, and a red cravat at the neck. Underneath the coat the colours get slightly more flamboyant, a green and yellow striped waistcoat, with a white shirt worn underneath. His cufflinks on the shirt bear the templar mark. His trousers are black-grey and he wears them tucked into his boots. Distinguishing Features
Amber eyes, templar cufflinks (only visible with his great coat off), scars one across the bridge of his nose the other along one cheek
Personality and History Key Traits
Disciplined, Nurturing, Good
Personality
Aran's personality is complicated. When focusing on destroying a rival he often approaches such problems as if they were a chess match, and the men on his side and the opponents were nothing more then pawns to be destroyed of, showing more care for those who he trusts deeply. He is also very disciplined and ordered, this showing in the precise method of laying out his desk, and even elsewhere. Everything has its place, everything has its home.
Aran however is also very compassionate and caring, wanting truly to do right by the people of Americas - whether that means he has to have the hard heart to eradicate anything he sees as a threat to them at the cost of his own grieving in times of solitude.
Backstory
Aran helped his father, who was a blacksmith, at the forge. His mother was a red headed Irish woman, with a vicious temper, his father was dark haired and often had a brooding appearance. But to Aran this was family, this was home. He loved watching, and listening to, the roar of the furnace. He loved helping by using the bellows, but most of all he loved spending time with his father. Indeed he learnt much on how to tell good weaponary from bad, what the different metals looked like, and much more about intricate mechanisms.
He was aware that his father often served mysterious hooded men. He wasn't aware at this point just what they were. He knew that they lived near Davenport Homestead, and that these mysterious hooded men came from that direction, so he assumed that they must be from there. One night, when he was 13, he decided he would slip away, to go see if he could find where these mysterious hooded men came from. He did... but they found him first. They intercepted him no where near the homestead, but near enough that he knew that they must come from there. So it was his fate was decided.
At age 14 he was indoctrinated into the assassin order, and started training. It was hard, and he didn't enjoy all aspects of it. He certainly didn't enjoy the way that they seemed removed from the truth of the suffering of the people. Nor was he 100% sure that he liked the idea of killing someone. But slowly his mind was turned, it was trained to the assassin way. But still, deep down he was questioning, questioning everything he heard, everything he eavesdropped on.
At age 25 he married his first wife, to keep up appearances, and they had two children. His wife he often described as a little song bird, and he had a low opinion of her, but he tried to show her some concern. He tried to keep her happy, and he brought her whatever she desired. The same form of affection came from him to his sons. If he couldn't afford to buy it he used the skills his father had taught him to make things instead. He was still occasionally asked by the Assassins to forge new tools for their use.
He was often away on missions, and occasionally was indiscrete with other men, however there was some form of caring towards her. A part of him occasionally even missed his wife, and he couldn't help the sense of guilt after he woke up entangled in the sheets with a firm body next to him. So it was he would throw himself even harder into his missions, try and escape the urges of the flesh that a part of him viewed as abhorrent and unnatural. He has since come to terms with his preference towards men, but he still prefers to keep up appearances.
It was on one of his missions that he was approached by an informant, and told to hurry to the family house, something bad had happened. He raced there, but arrived too late, seeing hooded men, apparently of his order, leaving his family house. Some he noted had blood on the inside of their arms. He walked in to find his wife and children dead, their throats cut open. Betrayed by the assassins, or so he believed, he left the order after a confrontation that earned him the two scars on his face. He was not aware that this was all a Templar set up. Initially the Templars goals had been to get the brotherhood to murder one of their own, but upon finding that he lived they decided to try and recruit him into their order.
For some time he wasted his life drinking, until one day at the inn he was approached by someone who offered a way to get back at those who had betrayed him. Agreeing, he joined the Templar order officially after he had proven his loyalty to them. Time went by, seasons changed and years passed. He married again, once more keeping up appearances but this time for another motive as well. The wife he married to was a Templar supporter, she was also wealthy. It meant he could at least try and do right by the people, try and give them all a better life.
He betrayed the location of Davenport Homestead and identified it as the location that the Assassins were using to hide in. Plans were made and set in motion to attack the location identified. During the attack the grand master was killed, as were many of the colonial rite, but more importantly the assassin strength was broken and their base of operations all but destroyed. So it was Aran took the role of the new Grand Master of the Colonial Rite. He harbours no further ill will towards the assassins, as long as they do not mess with his plans, for he views the debt paid.
